Probleme mit Ubuntu Startpanel

Beim verwenden vom VMWare Player unter Ubuntu ist Ubuntu 6.1 abgestürzt.
Beim neuen starten erscheint jetzt der BugBuddy mit folgender Fehlermeldung:

Also mein Problem ist im Moment nicht VMWare, sondern Ubuntu selbst.
Direkt nach dem hochfahren von Ubuntu und dem Login erscheint das Bug Buddy Fenster mit obiger Fehlermeldung.
Wenn ich dann ca. 10 mal auf "Schließen" geklickt habe kann ich auf die Desktopverküpfungen zugreifen, jedoch ist die obere Leiste (GNOME Panel) nicht mehr vorhanden.
Meine eigentliche Frage:
Wie kann ich das Ubuntu reparieren, damit es wieder normal funktioniert ohne eine Neuinstallation des ganzen Betriebssystems zu machen?
