Ich besitze einen DELL-Rechner, der etwa 4 Jahre alt ist (WinME, Pentium II). Deshalb möchte ich gerne ein BIOS-update durchführen, um anschließend einige aktuelle Komponenten einsetzen zu können.
Ich habe bei DELL die entsprechende Datei gefunden und heruntergeladen. Ich habe sie auch extrahiert. Es wurden insgesamt 2 Dateien extrahiert: disk.exe (345 KB groß) und readme.txt.
Die readme-Datei enthält folgenden Inhalt:
Dimension XPS Dxxx A04 Flashbios
This file contains a self-extracting diskette image that contains the A04 BIOS and Release Notes for the Dimension XPS Dxxx systems.
After downloading and extracting, to make the diskette, place a formated diskette in drive A:, go to a DOS Prompt, change to the directory containing the extracted files, and type in `disk a:`, then press ENTER.
Reboot the system using this diskette to install the BIOS upgrade.
Kann mir jemand möglichst plausibel erklären, wie ich vorgehen muss, damit möglichst nichts schief geht?
