Auf einem Surface von USB Platte starten funktioniert nicht

Ich habe ein Surface pro mit Windows 8 und eine USB Platte mit ubuntu
Wenn ich ubuntu von der USB Platte starten will funktioniert das nicht obwohl die USB Platte an meinem Desktop einwandfrei läuft.

Ein USB Stick mit ubuntu startet an dem Gerät dagegen einwandfrei.

Hat jemand eine Erklärung?

Ergänzung: Das Surface hat einen USB 3 Anschluß, während ... fbe
