hallo Usergemeinde,
habe nen alten Compaq rechner nen Deskpro EN Series 400/6.4 Ger
nun mein Problem das ding hat zwei Ramstreifen drin je 64 mb also nach adam riese 128 mb
hat aber noch ne dritte bank frei, da möchte ich nun einen 256 mb streifen reinbauen
aber sobald der drin ist fährt die kiste nicht mehr hoch
könnte mit aktuellerem bios doch funzen oder ?
wie komme ich an dieses neue bios und wie flashe ich die kiste ?

Alpha13 pissne „Compaq Bios Update“
Die Kiste hat einen Intel 440BX Chipsatz und da läuft nur ein 256MB Modul mit 16 Chips (8 pro Seite).
Außerdem kann es Probleme geben, wenn alle 3 Slots belegt sind:

Da hilft dann auch kein Biosupdate, trotzdem würde ich das neueste flashen.

welches Bios nehme ich von der hp seite ?
und wie flashe ich es ?
so wie bei einem normalem bios mit zb. nem msi board drin ?

Das müßte ein Model 6400 sein, die Bezeichnung steht auf der Kiste.

Anleitung:
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded Spxxxx file to unpack the ROM image files. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.
5. Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 08/22/99 Compaq System ROM or the Language Module option and flash the firmware.

Übrigens laufen mit dem neuen Bios auch Platten bis 128GB.

habe leider keine Modellbezeichnung auf der Kiste gefunden,
das einzigste ist ne Seriennummer vielleicht kannst DU mir ja nochmal helfen
wäre echt Nett !
Also da steht Compaq Serial No. 8908BW460312
dürfte für Dich doch kein problem sein oder ?
vielleicht wenn die Seriennummer nicht hilft sag mir wo ich nachschauen soll
auf dem Board vielleicht wenn ja im welchem bereich !!
