Stimmt jetzt ist es da, sogar eine xfce -version - - sehr interressant.
Danke @Ganoven Ede , mit Bittorrent habe ich gute Erfahrungen gemacht.
Ktorrent funktioniert gut ,der Torrent von Gnome auch , in Opera ist sogar schon einer im Browser integriert.
Wenn das Laden mal unterbrochen wird, kann man an der gleichen Stelle fortfahren.

Habe gerade von Debian sarge auf etch aktualisert.
Hat nur 1,5 Stunden gedauert. Ich habe nur eine 1000 kBit/s DSL Leitung.
Jetzt läuft Debian wieder so fehlerfrei wie vorher, keine Probleme mit meinem Desktoprechner.
Ach nein, ich brauche einen aktuellen Linuxkernel, weil udev nicht mit dem Linuxkernel 2.6.8 läuft.
An Debian ein sehr großes Lob. Der Übergang von Sarge auf Etch läuft problemlos.

Jetzt klappt es auch besser mit dem XServer.
Die Installation vom Internet geht sogar mit dem kleinen Businescard -iso prima.
Wenn man nach der Installation des Grundsystems die beiden Häkchen aus der Vorgabe
abwählt ist es möglich ein System von der Pike aufzubauen .
Danach kann man den Xorg und den Fenstermanager seiner Wahl mit
apt nachladen.
Wäre gut wenn man die Aptbefehle für einen schnellen xfce kennen würde.
Das fertige Xfce-iso ist immerhin über 640Mb groß.
Bei Kde gibt es ja kde-base.

XFCE ist schon abgespeckt und leichter als KDE.
Vielleicht installierst du einfach erstmal das metapackage xfce
und löscht dann Komponenten die du nicht brauchst.

Danke für die Info. Man ist ja immer auf der Suche nach einem schnellen
windowmanager der nicht zu alt aussieht.
Auf einer Live-CD mini von Kanotix gab es mal einen besonders schönen mit Glas-Optik.
Es ist schon erstaunlich wie gut Etch auf meinen alten Rechnern läuft.
Es ist bei einigen Dingen sogar besser als Ubuntu .Dessen apt ist mir beim Updaten schon zweimal flöten
gegangen . Einmal ließ es sich nicht mehr reparieren.
Falls man den Rechner eine Weile nicht benutzt hat, wird dort das halbe System erneuert.
