Hallo Gemeinde,
mir stellt sich folgendes Problem:
Beim Start meines Linux Ubuntu 8.10 gibt es einige Ungereimtheiten. Welche da also sind - normal ist, ich muß mich mit meinem Benutzernamen und Passwort im System anmelden. In den letzten Tagen war das aber nicht der Fall. Konkret - ich habe den PC eingeschaltet und bis Linux so mal da ist, gehst mal schnell noch 'n Jever holen. Als ich zurück kam war meine Oberfläche komplet auf dem Schirm und das ohne jegliche Anmeldung, alles wie von Geisterhand.
Seit heute nun ist mal wieder alles beim alten, mal sehen wie lange.

Nun meine Frage. Hat jemand eine Erklärung für dieses Pheomän, oder kann mir erklären worüber diese Anmeldung gestolpert ist?

Gib doch mal die Bootmeldungen aus (Konsole: dmesg | grep error).
Hast Du beim Starten ein Grub-Auswahlmenue?
Dann versuche auch mal einen anderen Eintrag auszuwählen mit den Pfeiltasten, geht es dann wieder normal?

hast du vielleicht (unbeabsichtigt) in den Anmeldebildschirmeinstellungen rumgestochert? Unter KDE4:
KDE->Systemeinstellungen->erweitert->Anmeldebildschirm, und da der dritte reiter oder so, da kann man einen benutzer für den automatischen login einstellen. geht aber afaik nur wenn man auch das pw speichern lässt.

unter kde3 sollte der weg analog verlaufen.

evtl kann es auch sein, dass du dein passwort vielleicht auf ein leeres pw geändert hast. andererseits sollte kde dann gar keinen login erlauben(zumindest in den kdm defaulteinstellungen)

ne hab ich nicht, benutze Gnome als Oberfläche, meine Einstellungen zum Anmelden sind alle ok. Passwort habe ich ebenfalls nicht ausgetauscht.

Dann empfehle ich Dir, noch 3 Tage zu warten bis zum Final vom neuen Ubuntu-Release 9.10.

Neuinstallation erstmal unter beibehaltung des /home-Verzeichnisses (bei der Installation nicht zum Formatieren anhaken), damit die persönlichen Einstellungen nicht verloren gehen.

Sollte es danach nicht besser werden, vollständig neu installieren.

Bitte sichere die Dir wichtigen Daten in jedem Falle vorher!

Dank für Deine Antwort auf mein Problem.

Das mit der Neuinstallation kam mir auch in den Sinn, hatte aber den Aufwand gescheut, welcher eine Installation so mit sich bringt. Denn ansonsten läuft ja alles wunderbar.

Was natürlich immer noch so ist, wie es sein sollte, wenn ich in das System will (z.B. Updates inst.), geht nichts ohne Passwortabfrage. Halt nur diese Verdammte Anmeldung beim Start macht was sie will.

Ok, mal sehen was daraus wird und vertreiben uns so lange die Zeit mit warten auf den 29.10.

Warum das mit dem Anmelden so ist, kann ich mir auch nicht erklären, aber zumindest mit den Platten wäre es auch eine Erklärung, warum es wieder geht, falls Ubuntu zwischendurch mal fsck am Laufen hatte, wie das aller x Bootvorgänge üblich ist.
Bei diesem User war es die /home-Partition auf einer anderen Platte, möglicherweise ist das Problem bei Dir ähnlich gelagert gewesen.

Mit der Anmeldung kannst Du auch nur probieren, indem Du diese auf automatisch setzt und dann wieder deaktivierst, um den gewünschten Zustand zu erhalten.
Ein autologin ist theoretisch noch über diesen Weg möglich:

Dazu müßte aber die Datei /sbin/getty bearbeitet worden sein und in der .bash_profile startx oder Gnome als zu startender Fenstermanager eingetragen sein, sonst kannst Du Dich ja nur auf das Terminal
